Free Trial E-Cig An Expensive Trap
You've probably noticed them. They're everywhere you look. Advertisements for a "Free E-Cig" or "Free Trial" of an electronic cigarette. Wow! A free trial on the hottest stop smoking product since nicotine patches. That really sounds amazing! Well, as you are about to learn, it is actually too good to be true.As it turns out, "Free" E-cig are one of the biggest scams of the decade. The sellers use an old internet marketing scam called Forced Continuity to literally steal millions of dollars from unsuspecting victims. If that's not bad enough, there is absolutely no way you can get your money back. Here's how they do it.
When you sign up for your free e-cig starter kit, you are required to give a credit card number. They tell you it is either to pay for the shipping and handling or a small surcharge of some kind. The fee is usually very small, around $5 to $10 and most people won't even question this amount as they are so thrilled to be getting an ecig for free.
Now, they usually won't mention that you are in reality signing up for they're electric cigarette cartridge refill program. The cartridges contain the nicotine fluid (e-liquid) and you will need to refill or replace them on a regular basis. It is much less expensive to refill your cartridges as opposed to replacing them but some how, they forget to mention this. Here is the scam, they start sending you refill cartridges every month at incredibly over inflated prices. For example, they will charge you between $100 and $200 dollars for about $20 worth of cartridges.
To make matters worse, when you try to cancel the subscription, it is almost impossible. And even if you are allowed to cancel, it will take 3 to 4 months to end your subscription while each month you are being re-billed for the over-priced cartridges. Did I mention that the cartridges are not returnable? So, in the end, you will have paid $500 to $600 dollars for cartridges that are actually worth less than $100 making your "Free" e-cigarette not such a great deal after all.
